The objective of this development plan for a public benefit foundation, the Spatmühle Foundation, in the realm of renewable energy – hydro, biomass and solar – and sustainable development is twofold.
First, introduce this unique concept for using multiple renewable energy sources at one location for production of clean energy, while at the same time integrating this effort with education and public outreach programs, thus contributing to a more expeditious sustainable energy transition.
Second, provide enough details regarding all important aspects of this plan to convince potential partners, investors and sponsors that this is an exciting and worthwhile endeavor to become involved. All it takes is three or four enthusiastic partners or an equal number of investors to make this vision reality for long term gains that will also make a difference for society.
This is a preliminary first edition of the development plan. This is due to this opportunity arising on rather short notice – due to a death in the family, and subsequent legal requirements that require immediate attention to avoid this unique opportunity from slipping away. Already more detailed assessments regarding some of the investment requirements are in the making and will be forthcoming.
This plan will show that investing in renewable energy under Germany’s world renowned Renewable Energy Act and doing so under the organizational structure of a Foundation is extremely lucrative, in terms of financial and intrinsic rewards. At this time preliminary calculations show a conservative leverage to equity ratio of less than 25% at projected start-up investments of under one million Euro.
Investment security is based on understanding that renewable energy projects in Germany pay for themselves under federally guaranteed tariffs and favorable legal conditions, while typically also paying small dividends from power production. Furthermore, renewable energy creates significant asset value appreciation. Additional benefits result from investing in a public benefit foundation in form of tax deductions.
Offering academic courses, that include a hands-on learning approach, increases revenue flow for the Spatmühle Foundation. Conferences and seminars promoting renewable energy to a larger audience, as well as providing business meeting space, will also generate revenue streams.
